Teeth Grinding or Bruxism

Teeth Grinding or Bruxism.

Bruxism is a word used by dentists to describe teeth grinding (excessive clenching). This disorder is most common among children, adults suffer from it much less often and mainly due to psycho-emotional stress. There’s a myth that bruxism is connected with worm infections, but we assure you this is nonsense. Scientists all over the world consider bruxism a multifactorial disease. They identify such possible causes as, for example, sleep disorder, malocclusion (or a “bad bite”), genetic predisposition, and chronic stress. And don’t forget that even healthy people may suffer from bruxism attacks. Therefore, this problem should not be overlooked. Constant friction of teeth with chewing surfaces may cause enamel damage, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and episodes of severe headaches. If you or your child find these symptoms familiar, don’t hesitate! Qualified dental care can resolve this problem.
